Play Follow The Leader With Your Dog
Special Interest: Running
This game is similar to Chase, but much more interesting. That is, you make it as interesting as you want to!
Start with your dog on leash. Have your dog chase you, but challenge him further by zig-zagging or introducing commands such as left, right, stop, or go. You will want to start your dog off at a walking pace with this game. Your dog should follow your lead at your side at all times. Give him a treat if he does. If your dog gets ahead of you, wait until your dog comes back to you in a sitting position before giving him a treat and continuing with the game. Try going faster or slower.
This game actually teaches your dog to follow you on a run and more importantly, not to cross your path. Need something even more challenging? Instead of having your dog at your heel, test your dog’s mastery of commands and see how well he does in a maze or open field with traffic cones.

Safety: Please consult your vet on running with your dog, especially if you have a puppy. You may also need to consult your own doctor to see if it is safe for you to run. Pay attention to your dog's abilities and start slow. Never run when it is too hot or cold outside. Remember to take small and steady water breaks to prevent bloat or water intoxication. And don't forget to check the paws!
