Griffith Park is the tenth largest city park in the United States. It is located just north of Hollywood in Los Feliz, CA. The park offers a lot of different options. You can always see people running, biking, horseback riding, going on a pony ride, riding the merry-go-round, playing golf, playing soccer, swimming in the pool, playing tennis and more. The park is also home to several major facilities; Griffith Park Observatory, Greek Theatre, Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Garden, Hollywood Sign, Autry Museum of the American West, Travel Town Museum with train rides for kids, Bronson Caves and more. Dogs are allowed on leashes throughout the park, except in facilities or buildings. There is a dog park north of the John Ferraro Soccer Field on North Zoo Drive where dogs can be off leash.

There are several paved roads and trails that meander throughout the park. It’s a good idea to print out a map with you if you go the trails. Some of the best hiking options include Bronson Caves to see the Hollywood Sign and famous Bat Cave, Amir’s Garden and Ferndell Trail.

Neat Tidbits: Read about how Griffith Park came to be. Topanga State Park, considered one of the top 5 largest city parks, has almost double the acreage as Griffith Park. Both are rated one of the largest urban parks in the United States. Topanga is actually one of the largest in the world!
