Teach Your Dog To High Five
Special Interest: Games TricksIndoor Play
Come on…it’s adorable to high five with your dog! He’s your best buddy after all!
Let’s get started: Ask your dog to sit. Hold a treat in front of your dog and then ask him to “High Five.” Your dog will naturally try to grab the treat but make him sit to get it. You may need to show him the treat or use a more enticing treat.
Your dog will soon be trying to paw your hand to get at the treat. As soon as your dog raises his paw even a little bit while sitting yell out “yes” and give your dog the treat with some extra love. Remember, your dog should still be sitting as he does this. You may have to hold him in a sit position the first few times.
Slowly train your dog to raise his paw higher until he can give you a full paws up high five! Practice this for five minutes before each dog walk!
