Exercise Your Dog On A Treadmill
Special Interest: Running
A lot of dog owners actually exercise their dogs on a treadmill. We can see some Weimaraners or Border Collies really loving this! Don’t just plop your dog on the treadmill and expect him to go! Desensitize your dog to the treadmill first by giving him treats every time he sniffs or touches the treadmill while it is off and then on. Start with a very very slow walk on leash and gradually increase the speed and distance for your dog. Take the leash off your dog when he is comfortable jogging and getting on/off the treadmill on his own.
Take a picture of your dog on the treadmill. What is your dog’s treadmill settings? How do you train your dog on the treadmill? Any positive benefits from using the treadmill?

Items Needed: Treadmill designed for dogs, Treats.
Safety: Please consult your vet on running with your dog, especially if you have a puppy. Pay attention to your dog's abilities and start slow. It is highly recommended to use a treadmill designed for dogs rather than one for humans. Never leave your dog unsupervised on a treadmill!
