We do disc rollers a lot! I keep the cheap Petco soft plastic frisbees around for rough frisbee play. Carmella has really high prey drive so she will go after anything that moves. She can’t refuse a rolling disc on the ground. This is way better to her than a walk around the block. She gets tired fast running around everywhere. We always bring extra water and some treats with us.Playtime is usually 15 minutes or 30 if we are mixing it up with non-running exercises or just resting.
October 2014 – Carmella ran with me frequently on short weekday runs as I was training for a half-marathon. I took me some time to teach her not to cross my path while running (very dangerrous) but she loves going out with me. Our first 5k together was the Barctoberfest at Patterson Park, Baltimore. We dressed up in black tutus and orange hair (Mohawk on dog, pigtails on me) and eyelashes. Don’t we make a lovely pair? One of my favorite moments with Carmella.
November 2017 – We went out for a hike this morning and passed by this interesting stump! Reminded me of the sword throne in Game of Thrones. Suitable for Carmella, queen of the forest! lol.
Fall is definitely upon us now and it’s nice to spend time cooking in a warm kitchen. I can always count on Carmella to keep me company! If it’s not seeking warmth by my feet, she’s looking for scraps of whatever I’m cooking. We bake cookies for the whole family now and then. Of course, Carmella gets her share too! November is all about hiking, but we’re also getting back into road running. It’s also time to perfect some of Carmella’s fun parlor tricks and drills to help her with playing disc!
10.21.17 We went camping and hiking up at the Appalachian Mountains – Shenandoah National Park this weekend to see the fall foliage. This is usually the peak weekend for fall colors but this year I think everything is delayed. Still we had a wonderful trip hiking up to Loft Mountain and camping. We can’t wait for the season to start up again in the Spring!
We swam and swam and swam today at the dog park! Swimming is one of Rory’s favorite activities!
As a rescue pupper mom, I do my best to get to the shelter every weekend and help get dogs adopted! 🙂
We adopted Rory a year ago in September 2016! We just celebrated her Gotcha Day!
This was our first foster, Lumi. She has been adopted, but we will continue to foster over the next year to help find other puppers homes!
